Twin Pines Housing Executive Director Andrew Winter has informed the Board of Trustees of his intention to retire after 14 years of transformative leadership. Winter is expected to remain in his role for approximately six to twelve months while the Board conducts a national search for his successor, ensuring a thoughtful and seamless transition.
Since joining Twin Pines in 2012, Winter has led the organization through a period of remarkable growth and impact. During his tenure, Twin Pines has expanded from approximately 200 affordable homes to a portfolio of 665 apartments and 71 shared-equity homes serving more than 1,100 residents throughout the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. Under his leadership, the organization has broadened its resident services, strengthened its financial position, expanded its development pipeline, and become one of the region’s leading nonprofit affordable housing organizations.
The organization has also experienced significant internal growth, increasing from a staff of eight employees to a team of 30 professionals dedicated to creating and preserving affordable housing and supporting the people who call Twin Pines home.
Twin Pines Housing Board Chair Julia Griffin praised Winter’s leadership and lasting impact.
“Andrew has transformed Twin Pines Housing in every sense of the word,” Griffin said. “His vision, expertise, and unwavering commitment have enabled the organization to more than triple the number of homes we provide while building an exceptional team and a workplace defined by collaboration, professionalism, and a shared sense of purpose. His leadership has touched thousands of lives across our communities. While Andrew will be greatly missed, the Board is committed to finding an energetic, mission-driven leader who will build on this extraordinary foundation and guide Twin Pines into its next chapter.”
The Board of Trustees will appoint a search committee in the coming weeks to oversee a nationwide search for the organization’s next Executive Director. Winter will continue leading the organization throughout the transition and will work closely with the Board to ensure continuity for residents, staff, partners, and supporters.
Founded in 1990, Twin Pines Housing is a nonprofit affordable housing development organization serving communities throughout the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. The organization develops, owns, and manages affordable rental housing, creates opportunities for homeownership through its shared-equity program, and provides resident services that help individuals and families achieve long-term housing stability. Today, Twin Pines owns and manages 665 affordable homes and continues to expand its impact through new housing developments and community partnerships.
