Interstates:
Bethel-Brookfield, I-89 Paving – Shoulder cleanup will continue on the southbound portion of the project from Randolph toward Bethel. Guardrail installation will continue on the northbound portion from Bethel toward Randolph. Motorists should expect grooved pavement and single-lane closures with speed reductions to 55 mph in both directions near active construction operations Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Brattleboro, I-91 Exit 3 Paving – Paving operations are scheduled and the on- and off- ramps in both directions will be closed each morning from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday 7/14 through Friday 7/17.
Montpelier-Waterbury, I-89 South Paving – Motorists should expect delays Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists will encounter Southbound I-89 Exit 8 ramp closures throughout the work week with message boards directing specific detour information, in addition to southbound lane closures from Exit 10 to Exit 8. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
Newbury-Ryegate, I-91 Paving – A single-lane closure is planned between Exits 16 and 18 on I-91 North for final paving operations. A speed limit reduction to 55 mph will be in place. Motorcyclists should watch for uneven surfaces.
Royalton, I-89 Bridge Rehabilitation – Bridge deck, abutment, and pier work will continue near Exit 3, with crossovers, 15-foot width restrictions, and a speed limit of 55 mph in place until fall 2027. Motorists should expect a lane diversion and a speed limit of 30 mph on VT 107, with a 14-foot height restriction under Bridge 26S.
Waterbury-Richmond, I-89 Southbound Paving – There will be one lane of travel south of Exit 11 between MM 77 and MM 68 with occasional northbound closures at the U-Turns from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for this resurfacing project. Motorists are urged to use both lanes to the merge point and should anticipate slow-moving travel and traveling on uneven lanes and milled surfaces throughout the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
State Highways:
Barre City, VT 14 and Hill Street Railroad Crossing Improvements – Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hill Street between VT 14 and Perry Street will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time. From 7 p.m. on Friday through 7 a.m. on Monday, Hill Street will be closed 24/7 to all traffic for drainage and utility work at the railroad tracks. Drivers and cyclists will be detoured via VT 14, U.S. 302, and Hill Street. Pedestrians will be detoured via VT 14, Church Street, U.S. 302, and Perry Street. No traffic impacts at the VT 14 railroad crossing until mid-August.
Bennington, VT 9/Main Street Bridge Replacement – Crews will continue forming and pouring concrete railings and sidewalks adjacent to the bridge. Motorists should expect daytime lane closures on Main Street, with traffic controlled by signal lights.
Bennington, VT 67A Roundabout Construction – Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., flaggers will control alternating one-way traffic on the VT 67A, Silk Road, Matteson Road, and College Drive approaches to the VT 67A roundabout, with traffic maintained on the roundabout. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time. Crews will conduct final paving weather permitting and streetlight work.
Brattleboro, U.S. 5 Paving – Paving is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning. Flaggers and uniformed traffic officers will direct traffic through the work zones from Noah’s Lane through the Exit 3 roundabout to the intersection with Old Ferry Road. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
Brattleboro, VT 9 Class 1 Paving – Sidewalk work continues on VT 9 from the Edward Heights intersection to the I-91 Exit 2 interchange. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning, flaggers will control traffic through single-lane closures. Pedestrians should use caution navigating the work zone and be vigilant for sidewalk detours and accessible ramps.
Brattleboro-Putney, U.S. 5 Resurfacing – From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place for shoulder work from the intersection with Bennett Drive north to the project limits in Putney. Pavement markings are also scheduled to be applied on all side roads from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning. Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers and uniformed traffic officers will be in place. Motorists should watch for wet paint.
Bridgewater, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – Drivers should expect daily lane closures with flaggers and short delays through the work zone.
Castleton-Fair Haven VT 4A Paving – Drivers should expect daily daytime lane closures with flaggers and short delays along Route 4A through the villages of Castleton and Fair Haven. Shoulder closures will be in effect as needed.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange – Sunday through Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., U.S. 2/7 between the I-89 overpass bridges and Mountain View Drive will have lane closures on alternating sides with traffic shifts for paving work. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be intermittent lane closures at the signalized intersections along U.S. 2/7 between the Exit 16 Interchange and Rathe Road for traffic signal work and single lane closures along the west side of U.S. 2/7 starting at Mountain View Drive and extending north for roadway widening, conduit installation, and sidewalk prep. Thursday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive will be under single-lane closures on either side for curb installation. Motorists should expect significant delays and rough conditions. Please drive slowly, be alert, and consider alternate routes.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 17 Interchange Improvements – On weekdays between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., there is potential for a shoulder closure and lane shift on U.S. 7 between Wiley Road and the Chimney Corner intersection with U.S. 2. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
Colchester-Essex, VT 15 Paving – For this resurfacing project between the Colchester/Winooski town line and Susie Wilson Road on VT 15, motorists can expect slow two-way travel Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Derby, U.S. 5 and Alt. U.S. 5 Paving – Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for the application of permanent pavement markings and shoulder work. Motorists should watch for wet paint.
Elmore, VT 12 Bridge #90 Replacement – Crews are finalizing the footing at the first abutment. Traffic on VT 12 near the North Branch Cascades Trail will be one lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by a temporary signal outside of work hours. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph through the project area.
Elmore, VT 12 Bridge #94 Replacement – A temporary bridge is now open to all traffic through the project area while crews continue excavation for the box culvert. Traffic on VT 12 near Camp Road will be one lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Outside of work hours, both lanes will be open to traffic controlled by traffic signals. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph through the project area.
Georgia-Fairfax, VT 104A Paving – For this resurfacing project between the VT 104A/U.S. 7 intersection in Georgia extending 4.5 miles into Fairfax, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists can expect delays with traffic control present allowing for alternating one-lane of travel in multiple locations.
Hartford, U.S. 4 Quechee Gorge Bridge Project – Crews continue work on the north side of the bridge. One-way alternating traffic controlled by a traffic signal is in place. Pedestrians must also cross on the south side of the bridge.
Milton, U.S. 7 Intersection Reconfiguration – Alternating one-way traffic with flaggers will be in effect on US-7 Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with additional alternating one-way traffic Thursday night.
Northfield, VT 12 Retaining Wall Replacement – The southbound lane of VT 12 near the intersection with Town Highway 54 is permanently closed for the construction season. Monday through Friday during work hours, flaggers will maintain alternating traffic patterns and facilitate trucks and equipment entering the work zone. A temporary traffic light will be active at all other times.
Norton, VT 114 Culvert Replacement – Crews will be constructing a diversion roadway. Expect alternating one-way traffic guided by flaggers or temporary signals. Motorists are urged to use caution on gravel surface.
Pittsford, Bridge Replacement, US Route 7 – For this bridge replacement project, motorists can expect traffic control present with shoulder closures on US 7 with potential lane shifts and intermittent lanes closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Plainfield, U.S. 2 Slope Remediation – Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., U.S. 2 just west of VT 214 will have single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers for slope work, including clearing and excavation.
Poultney, Town Highway/South Street Bridge Rehabilitation – Painting continues on the existing truss. Traffic remains shifted to the one-lane temporary bridge, which is open to truck traffic. Temporary signals direct vehicles through the site, with flaggers used as needed during construction operations and truck movements.
Readsboro, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – As part of the bridge replacement over the Deerfield River, crews will continue work on the abutment formwork, reinforcing steel, and pier foundation for the new bridge. The temporary bridge continues to carry travelers over the river.
Ripton, VT 125 Culvert Replacement – A culvert replacement project is beginning approximately 3.4 miles east of the intersection with U.S. 7. Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., flaggers will maintain alternating traffic patterns through single-lane closures.
Troy, VT 243 and VT 105 Paving – Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Shoulder work and pavement marking is scheduled and motorists should watch for wet paint.
Vershire, VT 113 Bridge #11 Replacement Project – The contractor will start pile installation on the abutment 1 side of the bridge and excavation will start on abutment 2 later in the week, weather permitting. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic patterns through the work zone controlled by temporary traffic signals.
Williston, VT 2A and Industrial Ave Intersection Roadway Widening – Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., traffic on VT 2A between Mountain View Road and Hillside Drive will shift west, with cones marking lanes, as crews widen and reconstruct the east side. Single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers will be in effect between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.; two-way traffic will be maintained outside those hours. Drivers should expect delays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and allow extra travel time or use alternate routes.
Wolcott, School Street Bridge Replacement – The bridge on School Street remains closed to all traffic with a signed detour in place as crews work to assemble the truss bridge. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., intermittent lane closures are expected on VT 15 and traffic at the intersection of VT 15 and School Street will be controlled by flaggers. An increase in truck traffic is expected; trucks will be using Flat Iron Road to access School Street to deliver bridge materials.
