New Dedicated Testing Center Gives Lamoille County Patients a Local Choice — at a Competitive Price
Vermont Business Magazine Copley Hospital is launching the Copley Express Lab, a dedicated testing center built on a straightforward belief: high-quality lab testing should be accessible, affordable, and available right here in our community.
The new lab, set to open on August 3rd, is located at 607 Washington Highway in Morrisville, right next door to Lamoille Health Partners. It was established in direct response to recent decisions that would route local laboratory services back to out-of-state, for-profit providers. Copley has the expertise, infrastructure, and capacity to perform these services locally, and based on available comparison data, at a competitive price.
"Shifting local laboratory services out of Vermont does not solve our healthcare affordability challenges," said Jennifer Peers, RN, MBA, FACHE, COO of Copley Hospital. "The infrastructure, staffing, and 24/7 readiness required to serve our community remain in place regardless of where tests are processed. When service volume leaves local organizations, costs are spread across fewer services, increasing financial pressure on rural hospitals and contributing to the very affordability challenges we're all trying to solve. Keeping care local is not just more convenient; it provides faster results for patients, supports our economy, and is better for the long-term health of our region."
As a rural community hospital, Copley operates under significant financial and regulatory pressures, yet based on Green Mountain Care Board data it remains among the lowest-cost hospitals in Vermont. The Copley Express Lab reflects that same commitment to value.
What to expect at the Copley Express Lab:
• Walk-in service: No appointment needed
• Dedicated parking right at the front door
• Easy scheduling by phone or QR code for those who prefer a set time
• Extended hours in the works, with a goal of 7 AM to 7 PM
• The same full range of trusted diagnostic lab testing Copley has always provided
Patients have the right to choose where their lab work is done. To keep care local, simply ask your provider to send lab orders to Copley.
For Medicare and Medicaid patients, out-of-pocket costs are the same regardless of where labs are drawn, making the choice to support local healthcare straightforward.
