The Greater Burlington YMCA recently expanded its Board of Directors with three new members: Luanne Cantor of Shelburne, Victoria “Vic” Westgate of Burlington, and Carol Pfeiffer of Burlington. The new members were elected during late-spring board meetings and formally introduced to the Y membership at the June 12 Annual Meeting.
Ms. Cantor is SVP of Retail at NorthCountry Federal Credit Union, a long-time supporter and significant underwriter of the Y’s youth programs. She previously served as Chief Financial Officer of the Greater Burlington YMCA from 2006 to 2015, giving her deep knowledge of the organization, its operations, and its impact in the community. Her background in managerial finance and financial analysis, as well as her experience with other nonprofit organizations, makes her a valuable addition to the Board.
Ms. Westgate is a partner at the Burlington firm SRH Law. She supports the firm’s business and transactional practice groups, with a focus on nonprofit law and contract matters. She brings considerable experience in nonprofit compliance and governance and will provide beneficial strategic guidance to the Y. In addition, Ms. Westgate has firsthand experience with the Y’s youth development programs. Her children attended the Y’s early childhood education program in Burlington, and her son has spent the past two summers at YMCA Camp Abnaki’s day camp.
Ms. Pfeiffer (pictured above) is a partner at Dinse P.C., where her practice focuses on estate planning and trust and probate administration. Her expertise will help the Y navigate the complexities of estate planning and charitable giving while strengthening stewardship of donors who include the Y in their estate plans. She also complements the Board’s existing strengths and brings a valuable perspective to long-term financial planning and strategy. Ms. Pfeiffer’s connection to the Y began in her youth, attending and later working at a Y camp in upstate New York. She and her family are now active members of the Greater Burlington Y.
“I’m grateful for the unique skills and experience each of these new members brings as resources to me in leading this Y,” said Dan Smith, President and CEO of the Greater Burlington YMCA. “Carol, Luanne, and Vic are important additions to our leadership, especially as the Board begins a new strategic planning process that will guide the Y through its next chapter of growth and community impact.”
The Greater Burlington YMCA is proud to welcome these three professionals to its Board of Directors, helping to ensure the organization’s long-term sustainability and continued accessibility for all.
