Over $225,000 in Scholarships Awarded

Vermont Business Magazine The Miss Vermont Scholarship Organization (MVSO) is proud to announce that two new state titleholders were selected this past weekend at the annual Miss Vermont Scholarship Competition held in Stowe at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center.  Miss Vermont 2026 is Hannah Roque and Miss Vermont’s Teen is Zoey Clopton.

Hannah is a native of Middlebury and a graduate of St. Michael’s College with a degree in English and Secondary Education. She is the daughter of Miss Vermont 1996 Nikki Juvan. This is the first time the daughter of a former Miss Vermont has captured the state title.

Hannah’s Community Service Initiative is centered around the risk of reducing the risk of stroke and heart disease.  She founded her nonprofit Stroke Awareness Vermont, with her mother, to amplify the voices of stroke survivors and their caregivers following her stepfather’s stroke in 2018.  She was awarded a $7500 scholarship, a $5,000 Ellis Strategies Public Speaking Course and was also named Miss Congeniality by her peers.

“I am so honored to be crowned as Miss Vermont 2026,” said Roque. “This has been a lifelong dream of mine, ever since I attended my first state competition at 26 days old. I am so excited to travel across the state advocating for stroke and heart disease awareness and speaking with Vermonters of all ages about how to reduce their risk factors. The Miss America Opportunity has changed my life, and I cannot wait to represent our brave little state on the Miss America stage in September.”

Zoey Clopton is a sophomore at Mount Mansfield Union High School in Jericho. She hopes to attend the University of Alabama and plans to major in Musical Theater or Vocal Performance.  Her Community Service Initiative SPOTlight (Stories Promote Our Togetherness) uses storytelling to promote children’s literacy and help them build empathy, confidence, and connection.  She was awarded a $3,000 scholarship, a $5,000 Ellis Strategies Public Speaking course as well as a full tuition scholarship to both the University of Alabama and Mississippi State University.

“I am beyond thrilled and truly humbled to represent the Green Mountain State as Miss Vermont’s Teen 2026,” said Clopton. “My heart is full as I look ahead to meeting incredible people, building meaningful connections, and learning from communities across our beautiful state. I can’t wait to listen, share, and shine a light on the powerful stories of Vermont’s children and families. There’s something truly magical about Vermont, and I’m so excited to sing, laugh, and celebrate that magic with kids of all ages.”

“We want to welcome Hannah and Zoey and congratulate the entire Class of 20246 on their incredible work,” said Darcie Fisher, MVSO Executive Director. “Our board is so proud of each of the young women who graced the stage this past weekend.  The growth they experience and the life skills they gain will stay with them for years.  We encourage other young women across our state to learn more about the life changing scholarship and community service opportunities we have available to them.”
