Expanding Access for Families and Supporting the Workforce

Vermont Business Magazine Orange County Parent Child Center (OCPCC), in partnership with Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC), marked the opening of its new Woodlands Campus child care center with a ceremonial “Passing of the Key” event on March 30.

Community members, project partners, and local leaders gathered to celebrate the completion of the project and the transition of the facility from construction to full operation. Attendees participated in a brief speaking program, a ceremonial key passing, and a tour of the newly completed space. Speakers included Congresswoman Becca Balint; Lindsey Trombley, Executive Director of Orange County Parent Child Center; Erika Hoffman-Kiess, Executive Director of Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation; and Larry Satcowitz, Orange-Washington-Addison District Representative.

The Woodlands Campus, located at 1538 VT-66, Randolph, VT, is opening on a phased schedule, with classrooms for younger children — approximately 6 weeks to 3 years — opening first. Additional classrooms will come online as staffing and licensing milestones are met. When fully complete, the 10,000-square-foot facility will serve up to 88 children, expanding access to child care for families in the Randolph region.

“This project represents years of planning, partnership, and community investment,” said Lindsey Trombley, Executive Director of Orange County Parent Child Center. “The Woodlands Campus will help ensure that families have access to high-quality child care while also supporting local workforce needs.”

The development of the Woodlands Campus reflects a strong partnership between OCPCC and GMEDC, along with regional and community support. The project was driven by a critical need for accessible child care in the region, which plays a vital role in supporting working families and strengthening local communities.

“Access to reliable child care is essential for both families and employers,” said Erika Hoffman-Kiess, Executive Director of Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation. “This new center represents an important investment in the future of our region.”

The Woodlands Campus is expected to reduce travel time for families seeking care and provide a high-quality early childhood environment designed to support healthy development and learning.

A community open house will be held on April 15, from 4:00-5:30 pm. For more information visit www.orangecountypcc.org
