The Cooperative Wins Five Best-of-Class Titles in International Competition
Vermont Business Magazine Cabot Creamery and Agri-Mark took home 17 awards at the World Championship Cheese Contest in Madison, Wisconsin last week. Since 1957, the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association has hosted this premier technical cheese, butter and yogurt competition biennially.
“Delivering the exceptional taste consumers expect from Cabot and Agri‑Mark starts with high-quality milk from our farmers and comes to life through the hard work and commitment of our employees,” said Jason Martin, SVP of Operations at Cabot Creamery and Agri-Mark. “These awards reflect the dedication and passion of everyone involved. We’re proud to be recognized by our peers in the most competitive dairy contest in the world.”
A team of 56 expert judges from all over the world evaluated 3,375 entries across 150 entry classes and 25 countries on flavor, body and texture, salt, color, finish, packaging and other attributes.
One of those judges was Ted Brown, Manager of Inventory Control and the cheese grading team at Cabot Creamery and Agri-Mark. The cheese grading team monitors and evaluates each batch of Cabot’s naturally aged cheddar on its texture, taste, and smell to ensure it meets quality standards. Brown recused himself from evaluating any categories in which Agri-Mark and Cabot had entries.
“There is a lot of collaboration and comradery in the dairy industry, and you can see that on full display at the World Championship Cheese Contest,” said Ted. “Everyone came together with one common goal—to pick the best dairy products in the world.”
