Building Bright Futures (BBF) Executive Director Morgan Crossman

Building Bright Futures (BBF) Executive Director Morgan Crossman has been recognized with the Vermont House Speaker’s Award for her leadership in strengthening accountability, collaboration and data-informed decision-making on behalf of children and families across the state.

The award was presented on Feb. 12 at the Democratic Speakers’ Soirée by House Speaker Jill Krowinsky and House Committee on Health Care Chair Theresa Wood. The recognition honors Dr. Crossman’s work advancing statewide systems that support young children and families; fostering bipartisan partnerships across the Legislature, Administration and community organizations; and promoting evidence-based policy at a time when effective governance is increasingly critical.

Under Crossman’s leadership, Building Bright Futures has played a central role in coordinating Vermont’s early childhood system, supporting cross-sector collaboration, elevating family and provider voices, and ensuring policymakers have access to timely, high-quality data to inform decisions.

“Morgan Crossman has been a trusted and effective partner to the Legislature, helping ensure that our decisions are informed by strong data, lived experience and a deep understanding of what families and providers need. Her leadership has strengthened collaboration across branches of government and across sectors, and Vermont’s children and families are better served because of it,” said Rep. Theresa Wood.

“I am deeply honored by this recognition and grateful to work alongside so many dedicated partners who are committed to Vermont’s children and families,” said Crossman. “This work is truly collective, and this award reflects the strength of our shared commitment to building a more equitable and responsive early childhood system.”

“Morgan’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening Vermont’s early childhood infrastructure and advancing collaboration across agencies and sectors,” said Anna Brouillette, Policy & Program Director at Building Bright Futures. “Her ability to bring people together around shared goals has helped ensure that children and families remain at the center of policy and practice.”

Building Bright Futures serves as Vermont’s Early Childhood State Advisory Council and statewide backbone organization, supporting coordinated systems-building, policy development and community engagement to improve outcomes for young children and their families.
