Lea M. Williams, a 20-year member of the Norwich University community, has been appointed as provost and dean of faculty following her service as interim provost. In her new role, Williams serves as the university’s chief academic officer, overseeing academic programs, faculty affairs and institutional learning initiatives.
Williams joined the Nowrich faculty in 2006 as assistant professor of English, advancing through roles as faculty development coordinator, department chair, interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and senior associate provost before assuming her current position. She is a graduate of the American University of Paris and holds a master's and doctorate in comparative literature from the University of Oregon.
“Dr. Williams has demonstrated, time and again, that she understands the heart of Norwich University — our faculty, our students and our mission,” said President John J. Broadmeadow. “Her appointment as provost reflects both her exceptional qualifications and the trust she has earned across this institution.”
