Host/Guest Matching Agency Now Serves 12 Counties
Vermont Business Magazine HomeShare Vermont has announced a major expansion of its operations in the Northeast Kingdom, teaming with the Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging to serve the entire region. While the organization began serving Hardwick, Greensboro and Craftsbury in 2023, this marks the launch of services for residents across all of Orleans, Caledonia and Essex counties.
HomeShare Vermont has trained two of the Council's case managers to create homeshare matches as part of their job responsibilities.
"At the NEK Council on Aging, we work to help people meet their goals," Council Executive Director Meg Burmeister explained. "For many, that goal is to age in their homes and the HomeShare program is an option we've longed for to help people who can benefit from sharing their home. We're excited to be partnering in bringing this to the NEK."
This next step in the Northeast Kingdom follows a period of rapid growth for the non-profit organization, coinciding with the recent launch of services in Windham and Windsor counties.
“We've had a statewide goal for a few years,” HSVT Executive Director Connor Timmons said. “By adding the entire NEK through additional support from the Department of Aging and Independent Living, we are now in 12 of Vermont's counties; it's a big step forward. Currently, we have more active homeshare matches than at any point in our 43-year history.”
To introduce the new local team and celebrate the Northeast Kingdom launch, HomeShare Vermont has scheduled a community Open House in St. Johnsbury for January 15, 2026.
