18 straight days of 3,000+ outbound passengers shatters previous record of 6 days.

Vermont Business Magazine The Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport (Leahy BTV) is proud to announce the conclusion of an unprecedented 18-day streak spanning October 5th and October 22nd in which more than 3,000 outbound passengers were screened at Leahy BTV, each day — a new record for the airport. This accounted for over 58,000 people with a daily overage of 3,233 during the time period. The previous record of six consecutive days was set in both 2004 and achieved again 2008.

This milestone is made even more remarkable by the fact the streak occurred during a federal government shutdown, when the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) continues its critical operations with dedicated employees working without pay.

“This streak is a testament to the strength, teamwork, and resilience of our entire airport community,” said Nic Longo, Director of Aviation at the Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport. “To surpass our previous record by such a wide margin — and to do it during a government shutdown — speaks volumes about the commitment of our TSA team. These amazing, essential workers continue to show up every day with professionalism and pride, ensuring our passengers are safe and our operations run smoothly. We couldn’t do this without them.”

Leahy BTV continues to experience record passenger growth as travelers take advantage of expanded flight options and enhanced facilities. The entire team at Leahy BTV extends heartfelt thanks to the TSA, our airline partners, and the thousands of passengers who make Leahy BTV their airport of choice.
