Pieciak appoints David Scherr as deputy treasurer

David Scherr, state director at the Office of U.S. Rep. Becca Balint, has been appointed as deputy by state Treasurer Mike Pieciak, effective Nov. 3.

“I am excited to welcome David to our office,” Pieciak said in a release. “He is a top-level professional with excellent judgment, impressive leadership skills and a long track record of service to our state. I know he will strengthen our work in the treasurer’s office to grow Vermont’s economy and protect the financial security of workers and families.”

Scherr has held several key roles throughout state government These include general counsel to the Vermont Cannabis Control Board, from 2021 to 2023, and co-chief of the Community Justice Division in the Office of the Vermont Attorney General, from 2017 to 2021. He is a graduate of Amherst College and holds a law degree from Columbia Law School.
