VTSU announces 2025 Castleton Alumni Association Awards

The longest-serving president at the former Castleton University, David Wolk, and two of the school's alumni, Izzy Gogarty and Darren Perron, have been named recipients of 2025 Castleton Alumni Association Awards. Castleton University is now part of Vermont State University, which presented the awards.

Wolk, who led the former liberal arts university in western Vermont from 2001 to 2017, was presented with the Spartan Service Award of Excellence in recognition of his enduring leadership and commitment to both the Castleton and Vermont communities.

Gogarty, executive director at SHAPE Vermont, an advocacy organization for the state's health and physical educators, received the Emerging Leader Award in recognition of her outstanding character, creative leadership and professional achievement, along with continued dedication to Castleton.

Perron, an anchor, reporter and executive producer at WCAX-TV in Burlington, was honored with the Outstanding Alumni Award in recognition of his exceptional professional accomplishments and sustained commitment to service.
