Camp Ta-Kum-Ta Softball-a-thon Sept 20

All day softball fundraiser supports local families impacted by childhood cancer

Vermont Business Magazine Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, KOOL 105, and the Vermont Lake Monsters have teamed up again to present the 4th annual Ta-Kum-Ta Softball-a-thon at Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field on September 20th. This all-day event includes hourly softball games through friendly competition, all to support local families impacted by childhood cancer. The day is for the whole family, as there will be lawn games, face painting, and a Touch-A-Truck from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., along with food and non-alcoholic drinks for purchase from East Coast Ice, Shelburne Tap House, Urban Coffee Retreat, and pizza from the ballpark.

“Teaming up with Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and families impacted by childhood cancer is a true home run." said C.J. Knudsen, Senior Vice President of the Vermont Lake Monsters.  "The Vermont Lake Monsters have been partnering with Camp Ta-Kum-Ta for years and we love stepping up to the plate for such an amazing organization and cause.”

This is not your average softball tournament. Participants sign up to play for as many of the endless potential innings as they would like. All skill levels are welcome. Players can sign up as individuals or as a team and get to take advantage of an exclusive opportunity to play at Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field, home of the Vermont Lake Monsters, all while supporting a great cause.

“Camp Ta-Kum-Ta is a place of resilience, laughter, and magic.” said Meaghan Bombardier, one of the Co-Chairs of the Softball-a-thon and a current TKT Board Member. “Through the Softball-a-thon and Touch-A-Truck, we invite more of our community to experience the magic of Camp and understand why supporting this mission matters so much to us. At its heart, Camp carries a serious purpose, but it’s the kids and families who fill it with playfulness, meaning, and unforgettable joy. This event brings that spirit directly into the community.”

Camp Ta-Kum-Ta provides year-round programs for local families impacted by childhood cancer. Camp Ta-Kum-Ta's property, programs and operations are entirely supported through donations from the community, and there is never a charge to the camper or their family.
