CVCOA asks supporters to hit the trail for healthy aging

Vermont Business Magazine On Saturday, September 6 head to Oxbow Park in Morrisville for Central Vermont Council on Aging’s annual fundraiser, Hit the Trail: a bicycle ride and 5K run or walk on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.

This event aims to raise awareness and support for healthy aging programs and services while providing the opportunity for attendees to put healthy aging into practice, build community, and celebrate Vermont’s beautiful surroundings.

Executive Director John Mandeville said, “With all the uncertainty about Federal funding, which provides most of our financial resources, it is more important now than ever before for our friends and supporters to continue their generous contributions to help Older Vermonters in Central Vermont to be comfortable, well-nourished, and healthy as they continue to age. Your participation in and other support for Hit the Trail, our major fall fundraiser, will help us to continue to fully serve all older Vermonters living in Lamoille, Washington, and Orange Counties as well as several outlier towns: Bethel, Hancock, Granville, Pittsfield, Rochester, Royalton, Sharon, and Stockbridge. The staff of CVCOA and I humbly thank you for helping to provide the necessary wherewithal to serve our clients to the fullest.”

At the event, participants can enjoy a bike ride (15 to 30-mile round-trip options), a 5K run (timed option), or a walk, up to 3.1 miles, on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail followed by a delicious taco lunch from Aranda’s, live music by Donna Thunder, lawn games and prizes back at Oxbow Park. Participants will also have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win a Giant Roam E-bike.

Event tickets cost $30 and include lunch, live music and swag bags. Kids 12 and under are free. More information and tickets at tiny.cc/HitTrail.

CVCOA is grateful to the partners who stepped up to sponsor the event, making this year's ride, run and walk memorable: The Lauzon Family, North Country Federal Credit Union, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group, AARP Vermont, Community National Bank, VT, Mascoma Bank, Union Bank, VT & NH, Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc., Power Play Sports and Washington Electric Cooperative.
