Experts in peacebuilding, diplomacy, mediation, human rights, and intergroup dialogue teach at Bennington this fall.
Vermont Business Magazine This fall, Bennington College’s Center for the Advancement of Public Action (CAPA) is proud to launch Train to Transform, a powerful new online training series designed to equip participants with real-world skills for civic leadership, conflict transformation, and global engagement.
Registration opened August 4, 2025. Trainings begin the week of October 6, 2025.
Five dynamic online courses are each led by an internationally recognized practitioner. The series is designed for mid-career professionals, educators, students, public servants, activists, and lifelong learners seeking to deepen their impact and contribute to systemic change.
All trainings are delivered virtually via Bennington’s partner EnrichmentSolutions.us, which allows participants from around the globe to learn, connect, and apply their knowledge in real time.
“Train to Transform is about turning learning into action,” said Susan Sgorbati, Director of CAPA and the instructor for the Mediation and Negotiation training. “This program provides participants with the tools and insight to engage meaningfully with the complex challenges facing their communities and the world.”
Course offerings include Mediation and Negotiation with Susan Sgorbati, the CAPA Director and a professional mediator; Human Rights in Action with Andy Galindo, an international human rights lawyer and consultant; Intergroup Dialogue with Maurice Hall, an expert in communication and postcolonial culture; How Government Works—and How to Make It Work for You with Eileen Scully and Brian Campion, a historian and scholar of U.S. diplomacy; and Peace Building: Be the Change You Want to See with Vahidin Omanovic, an award-winning peacebuilder and co-founder of the Center for Peacebuilding in Bosnia.
Each course runs twice weekly over three weeks (six sessions total) throughout the month of October and is designed to foster collaborative, interdisciplinary, and project-based learning. Participants will engage through CAPA’s virtual community platform with EnrichmentSolutions.us, and each successful participant will earn a certificate of completion.
