Vermont Business Portal to simplify starting and managing a business

Provides a one-stop resource to help business owners and entrepreneurs navigate starting, managing, and growing their business.

Vermont Business Magazine The State of Vermont today announced the launch of the Vermont Business Portal, a “one-stop” virtual help center for new and existing businesses.

The Portal offers a central location for state government resources and requirements to start and manage a new business. It includes an interactive “New Business Checklist” to help identify the steps, applications, and supports for the business “startup” process.

“It’s difficult to run a business and connect with the right help in government, so we owe it to our small businesses to make it easier to understand and find everything they need,” said Governor Phil Scott. “The Vermont Business Portal is a small but important step to help business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs move in the right direction.”

Starting a business requires services, permits, and support from multiple state entities, including the Department of Taxes, Department of Labor, Secretary of State’s Office, the Agency of Commerce and Community Development, and more. The Vermont Business Portal provides a path to each of those entities, making it easier to navigate state government.

“I am excited about this collaboration across state agencies to make it easier for business to start, grow, and succeed in Vermont,” said Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas. “We know from the work of our Business Services Division that people are always looking for help and resources for their businesses, new and old, so being able to refer them to one spot to access state government will be great for our team and great for Vermont’s business community.”

Existing businesses can also use the Portal to connect with resources throughout the State.

“This new website is a wonderful way to connect startups and established businesses with all the services ACCD has to offer,” said Commerce Secretary Lindsay Kurrle. “From funding and incentives to expansion and export support, the Agency of Commerce and Community Development is standing by to help businesses realize their goals, and we appreciate this new way to connect with them.”

“I want to thank the Secretary of State, her team, and the teams at the Agencies of Digital Services and Commerce and Community Development, and departments of Labor and Taxes for their work on this project, which has so much potential for our small businesses,” said Governor Scott.
