Vermont Business Magazine CCTV Center for Media & Democracy will host a 24-hour telethon to highlight local programming and raise money for the CCTV Archives. The telethon will be held from Friday, July 25 at 6 p.m. until Saturday, July 26 at 6 p.m. and will broadcast live on YouTube.com/TownMeetingTV, Comcast Channel 1087, and Burlington Telecom Channel 217.
The telethon will feature an online auction, local musical performances, creative acts, community-based talk shows, and other unique programming. Saturday’s programs will be held in collaboration with the annual Old North End Ramble event. Community members are encouraged to join the live studio audience at our accessible studios located at 294 North Winooski Avenue in Burlington.
Musical performances include Death to Intelligent Dance Music, Avery Lavoie, Infinite Culcleasure, P. Alimony & Friends, and more. Talk shows include Celebrate Life with Gary Decarolis, Meet the Author with Dr Louis Meyers, The Juxtaposition with Mark Hughes, Tea Talks with Lydia Diamond, Arts So Wonderful with Bruce Wilson, and more. See the full performance schedule at cctv.org/telethon.
This event will support the continued preservation of the CCTV Archives, a collection of over 40,000 programs showcasing local history dating back to 1984. Housed on over 11,000 VHS tapes and DVDs, these recordings document the meetings, protests, celebrations, and conversations that have shaped our communities for decades. In the wake of a terminated federal National Endowment for the Humanities grant, the preservation of these tapes is at risk due to lack of funds. All proceeds raised from the telethon fundraiser will directly benefit the CCTV Archives. Donations can be made at cctv.org/donate.
Watch Live! Call in to 802-862-3966 or make a donation online. Join the live studio audience at 294 North Winooski Avenue.
