$900K Awarded to Dairy Co-Packing Businesses
The Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center recently awarded $903,190 in Dairy Co-Packing Grants to nine dairy businesses across four Northeast states.
Projects from this grant will support dairy processors entering into new co-packing arrangements, as well as those that already co-pack, to scale production, expand product lines, and establish new co-packing partnerships.
Two Vermont dairy businesses were awarded grants.

VCRD Community Leadership Summit
On August 11, join Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) and hundreds of community builders from across the state to gain skills and cultivate connections for a vibrant future.
This event is a chance to explore how we can work together to get things done, even when times are tough and resources are limited. Through workshops, panels, group discussions, and networking, participants will gain useful ideas, make connections, and hear inspiring success stories and tips.

Join Rural Vermont at Hillside Farm in the Northeast Kingdom for a chicken processing workshop on July 20.
Hannah and Bill Pearce of Hillside Farm will teach participants the basics of raising, slaughtering, and processing pastured meat chickens.
Tickets are $70. Participants get to take home one whole delicious meat bird! If there is time and interest, Bill and Hannah will also lead participants through instructions for the cutting/parting of whole birds.

Specialty Crop Marketing & Branding Toolkit

Funded by a grant through USDA, this toolkit guides producers through the process of uncovering and defining the narrative they want to tell in the marketplace to attract customers. It offers suggestions on how to effectively communicate that story, as well as how to efficiently reach consumers and boost the popularity of your products.
