MAPLE: TO TAP OR TO CUT?

8 credits LEAP | 6 credits SAF An appropriately timed workshop to help identify what a healthy sugar bush looks like, when that tree might be better to tap or cut and how to improve road and tubing systems. Information will be presented showing when a Maple tree is more valuable as a Sap producer vs. a Lumber producer. A Presentation on the Silviculture of a healthy Sugar Bush. And suggestions for creating appropriate woods roads into areas that need access during the worse time of year to be in the woods. Inside presentations in the morning followed by an afternoon in the Bush.

2025 VERMONT FOREST INDUSTRY SUMMIT
The focus of this event is to discuss innovative applications and developments relative to forest products, how they will affect the forest economy and the future of forests on the global market. Bolton Valley Resort will host knowledgeable speakers bringing forth the topics of what challenges lie ahead for forestry professionals, as well as what role forest stewardship will continue to play in the world ahead of us, and participate in an interactive session where perspectives and ideas will be exchanged among forestry experts from various fields tied to our woods.
This all-day session offers 8 Category 1 SAF Credits and 8 VT LEAP Elective Credits for Loggers.

UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING SLoCAMP!
Supporting Loggers' Compliance with AMPs (Acceptable Management Practices)
APPLICATIONS FOR THIS PROGRAM BEGIN JULY 21ST, 2025!
SloCAMP is a pilot program funded by the Vermont Legislature and administered through FPR to support logging contractors by funding pro-active water quality practices on logging operations.
Cost Sharing Practices include hardening truck roads and landings, improving drainage on skid trails and improving stream crossings to be flood resilient.
Logging contractors will apply for funding for the implementation of necessary practices on upcoming logging jobs.
To assist loggers with navigating eligibility, meeting the requirements, and project types, in-person sessions are now available for registration. For those unable to attend in person, SLoCAMP is offering an ONLINE webinar on July 15th, 2025, from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

As a statewide nonprofit dedicated to helping landowners and professionals care for Vermont’s privately owned forests, we believe good forest stewardship starts with knowledge, community, and fun. Whether you're a landowner, a forest enthusiast, or just looking for a great day outdoors with natural resource experts, this event is for you.
Join us for a full day of learning and celebration focused on forests, wildlife, and stewardship! Families are especially welcome—don’t miss our Family Woodland Adventure Walk with naturalist Adrienne Flowers, along with hands-on activities like scavenger hunts, forest art, and woodland exploration designed for kids and caregivers alike.
