Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Captive Insurance Association CEO Kevin Mead today announced his intent to retire. He said there is no set date for his stepping down but wanted to give the VCIA board time to find a successor and allow for a transition. Mead has led the South Burlington trade association since February 2022. Vermont is the largest domicile for captive insurers in the nation. VCIA is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Kevin Mead to step down from VCIA

A Note from the VCIA CEO

Dear VCIA members and the captive community,

It has been my honor to serve as VCIA’s CEO, and now I need to share an important update.

To ensure an optimal process to hire the best leader, and to guarantee an effective transition, I have requested that the VCIA Board of Directors now start the search for my successor.

As of now, I have no set date for my departure, as the primary focus is to allow the Board to conduct an effective search process, as well as to allow for the possibility of a transition period with the new CEO.

It is important to note that the VCIA team will continue, uninterrupted, in its excellence in serving members and stakeholder needs. Additionally, the work started at the 2024 Conference on crafting a new and exciting future for the VCIA through strategic planning and the adoption of our pillars of education, engagement and advocacy is well underway and will continue unabated.

The Board has appointed a transition team, and I am collaborating with them to craft an updated VCIA CEO job description and candidate profile. We will share with the community right away when more information is available. In the meantime, should you know any outstanding candidates, they can send their resumes to [email protected]

Sincerely,

Kevin Mead

VCIA CEO

Kevin Mead Bio

Kevin began his tenure as CEO of VCIA in February 2022.

Kevin brings a wealth of association management and financial tact to VCIA, having engineered a merger of three global independent accounting associations and forming PrimeGlobal, which represented 2,000 partners and 14,000 employees in 90+ countries. Kevin then facilitated rapid membership and revenue growth, increasing the net income 25% from 2 billion to 2.5 billion USD for PrimeGlobal. After PrimeGlobal, he was the Vice President of Resource Development for Spokane County United Way, a chapter of the biggest charity in the world, and most recently was the Executive Director of a rare disease foundation.

Holding two master’s degrees related to association management and finance, Kevin is the perfect candidate to lead VCIA, build out the captive industry’s flagship conference, increase VCIA membership and membership value, while evolving the organization for the future.
