Rowan Wilde Riggs, a neurodivergent poet and activist, has been named recipient of the 2025 Deborah Lisi-Baker Youth Leader Award by the Vermont Center for Independent Living. The award honors young Vermonters who demonstrate exceptional leadership, advocacy and commitment to justice and inclusion.
Riggs was recognized for his powerful storytelling and advocacy. His recent work, "Poetry Atomic Wonder," and contributions to Times Ink Vermont, the Vermont Studio Center and Poetry Magazine exemplify his impact as a cultural and community voice.
“Rowan is not just a leader, he’s a storyteller and a change-maker,” said VCIL Executive Director Sarah Launderville. “His work moves hearts and challenges assumptions. He reminds us that neurodivergent voices belong at the center of our cultural conversations.
