Lean 101 - Lean Transformation

May 14 / 8:00 am - 3:00 pm / Brattleboro / $98 pp / Register!

and

June 12 / 8:00 am - 3:00 pm / Williston / $98 pp / Register!

Lean is a learning system that develops capability and adaptability in people and processes. Lean 101 workshops have created and reignited the spark for improvement in countless organizations in Vermont and across the globe. When paired with the commitment to further engage and develop employees at all levels, Lean has proven to result in the competitive edge that attracts customers, employees and investors.

Participants will begin this workshop as a new employee in a chaotic manufacturing company. The results of the first round of simulation provide the basis on which Lean principles will be applied. Participants revisit the manufacturing environment and apply the Lean fundamentals that are taught “in the classroom”. Simple financial statements prepared after each round of the simulation show the impact of the improvements on a company’s bottom line. Participants will walk away recognizing the 8 wastes and with an introduction to mindsets and methods that they can use to eliminate these wastes in their own companies.

Bringing Manufacturing “Back” to the U.S.?

Economic studies suggest that government-supported manufacturing extension services can yield significant return on investment through job creation, increased productivity, and strengthened supply chains – critical factors in America’s manufacturing competitiveness strategy.

The Manufacturing Extension Partnerships (MEP) have also facilitated more private small consultants by introducing them to manufacturers for specific services. Essentially creating and sustaining a market and exemplifying the public private partnership it was designed to achieve. Should the future of U.S. manufacturing be a blend of large and small, regional and local, private and state funded, each supported and encouraged by federal and state funding, or should it be left to the private sector entirely and, if so, what role does tariff policy play in these decisions?

Ownership Center conference

Friday, May 30

8:00 am - 4:30 pm

DoubleTree by Hilton, South Burlington

$40 - $350 pp

Join VEOC at the end of this month for their annual employee ownership conference. It is one of a handful of conferences specifically about employee ownership in the nation and is one of few that bring both worker cooperatives and ESOP companies into a shared space to learn from one another and build community. Other attendee groups include business owners ready to learn about selling a business to its employees, professionals who support employee-owned businesses at the point of conversion and beyond, and still others interested in employee ownership for academic, political, or social reasons. The benefits of employee ownership continue to have broad appeal, and the VEOC conference remains a critical meeting point for all involved in shaping a more prosperous future.

VMEC is an event sponsor of this valuable opportunity; visit us at our table in the networking/ break area. Click VEOC annual conference for further information and to register.
