James Dlugos, former president of St. Joseph's College of Maine, has been named the fifth president of Landmark College, the first institution of higher education to exclusively serve students who learn differently.
Dlugos, founder and principal of his own consulting firm, has been serving as Landmark's interim president since July. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English language and literature from Boston College and a doctorate in literature from the University of Virginia.
“Today is a great day in the life of the college," board of trustees chair Barbara Epifanio said. "As we’ve gotten to know Jim, and he’s gotten to know us, we came to realize there was an ideal fit for his experiences and the opportunities our institution presents. Through the search process, we came to realize he had the right vision and demeanor to be the next president.”
Dlugos will take office on May 1, and an inauguration ceremony will be held at a later date, college officials said.
