Your AI Therapist Will See You Now: panel discussion on AI + mental health

Vermont Business Magazine Experts from technology, medicine, and student wellness will examine the emerging role of artificial intelligence in mental healthcare on Thursday, March 20, at Hula Lakeside in Burlington.

The event, "AI + Mental Health," will feature a live demonstration of an AI-powered chatbot therapist, spotlighting both the promise and potential risks of these technologies. As AI evolves from mechanical computation to systems capable of eliciting profound human emotional responses, the panel will explore the complex implications for mental health treatment.

Distinguished panelists include Dr. Sandra Steingard, Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UVM's Larner College of Medicine and former Chief Medical Officer at Howard Center; Tony Moulton, a leader in youth mental health and AI ethics with 25 years of experience; and Josiah Raiche, Chief Data and AI Officer for the State of Vermont and the nation's first AI Director.

The discussion will navigate the blurred boundaries between technological interaction and human experience, examining how these systems simultaneously inspire, manipulate, and challenge our understanding of empathy and connection.

The event begins Thursday, March 20 at 5:30 PM with complimentary pizza and soft drinks. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door (cash only), with free admission for students with valid ID.
