Community National Bank donates $20,000 to Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity

Vermont Business Magazine Community National Bank (CNB) has committed $20,000 over two years to support Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity (CVHFH) to assist with operating costs and new repair and building projects.

Beyond their financial support, CNB employees will also volunteer on-site, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to community involvement. Chris Caldwell, CNB’s new President and CEO, has a deep connection to Habitat for Humanity, having volunteered alongside his father. Upon stepping into his new role, he was eager to strengthen CNB’s partnership with CVHFH.

Caldwell shares, “Community National Bank is so pleased to be able to support the efforts of CVHFH as they work to give a hand up to folks gaining home ownership. We are also excited that our team can volunteer to help work on these home building projects. We love to give back to our communities and find this to be an awesome way to do so!”

CNB’s dedication to volunteerism aligns with a growing trend in the for-profit sector, where companies not only encourage employees to give back but also provide paid volunteer days. This shared commitment to the community makes the partnership between CVHFH and CNB a natural fit.

CVHFH homes are sold to low-income families with a 0% interest or equivalent mortgage. Homeowners must demonstrate the ability to repay the mortgage and contribute sweat equity by helping build their own home.

"The dream of homeownership is slipping away for working Americans. That’s why our work—and partnerships like this one with Community National Bank—matter now more than ever."– Zachariah Watson, Executive Director of CVHFH

The Randolph duplex will provide stable housing for a grandmother raising her grandchildren and a recent Rwandan immigrant raising teenagers—a testament to the power of community-driven housing solutions.

CVHFH welcomes volunteers of all skill levels to join in all phases of construction—no experience necessary. Safety training, materials, and tools are provided. Volunteering is a great way to learn valuable trade skills for a career or personal projects. To get involved as an individual, business, group, or organization on our construction sites, contact Edward Johnson at [email protected].
