Jim Ramsey, former chair of Bennington County Democrats, has been appointed interim chair of the Vermont Democratic Party. He succeeds David Glidden, who is stepping down after two years of leadership.

In his new role, Ramsey, of Manchester, will focus on advancing the party's mission, electing candidates, improving infrastructure and resources, and mobilizing grassroots support ahead of the 2026 election cycle.

Ramsey, of Manchester, is president and co-founder of The Sarah Ramsey Strong Fund, a Vermont nonprofit that raises funds for student innovation and entrepreneurship. He also brings to the job extensive business experience as a finance executive.

“Jim’s skills are wonderfully aligned to meet this moment and to build the most robust, resilient party possible.” Glidden said.

Vermont's Democratic statewide officials, including Attorney General Charity Clark, Treasurer Mike Piecak and Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas, also voiced their support.
