Cadet Command Sgt. Maj. Thoren Berg, a senior at Norwich University, has been named recipient of a national leadership award and $1,000 scholarship by the Association of Military Colleges & Schools of the United States. He was chosen for this honor based on his exceptional character, service, academic achievements and athletic performance.
Berg, of Holliston, Massachusetts, has been an example of dedication and all-around success during his time at Norwich, earning Scholar All-American as an NCAA wrestler, repeatedly recognized for his leadership on campus, being a peer tutor for the Center of Academic Success and Achievement and serving as a volunteer coach for the Northfield Ninjas youth wrestling program.
Upon graduation in May, he will commission in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Nuclear ensign. “I will do my best to live up to what this award means and continue to represent Norwich to the best of my ability,” he said.
