Bill Belcher, former president and executive director at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, has been appointed chief of advancement at Vermont Studio Center, a Johnson-based nonprofit organization that hosts the largest fine arts and writing residency program in the country.
In his new role, Belcher will oversee development, communications, alumni relations and admissions. He joins VSC with more than two decades of experience in external relations, fundraising and institutional storytelling, as well as executive-level leadership within the artist residency field.
“We are fortunate to have Bill join the VSC team at this pivotal moment,” Executive Director Hope Sullivan said. “His experience as an arts leader, fundraiser and advocate for artists will be a valuable asset to VSC, especially as we work to expand our reputation of excellence to a broader audience.”
Belcher is a graduate of Hartwick College and holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Goddard College. In addition to his long history serving nonprofit arts organizations, he is an award-winning author. His debut novel, "Lay Down Your Weary Tune," was published by Other Press in 2016.
