Black River Design has promoted architect Jesse Remick and architect and Director of Sustainability Polly Wheeler to partner at the Montpelier architectural firm. The pair have worked at Black River for a combined 53 years.
Remick grew up on Black River Design project job sites while shadowing his father, a mechanical and plumbing contractor from St. Johnsbury. These real-world experiences, together with his training at Vermont State University, and his years at BRD, have made Remick a pragmatic designer as well as a highly effective people and project manager.
Wheeler will continue to lead the firm’s sustainability initiatives through the implementation of the BRD Sustainability Action Plan, in addition to consulting on building envelope design for many projects. As partner, she will continue to serve all client types but takes a particular interest in pre-K and K-12 school projects.
“These two have been an integral part of BRD’s past success and will surely be an asset to accomplishing our vision and mission, now and into the future,” said Keith Robinson, one of the firm’s three other partners.
