Vermont Adaptive honors Anthony Hamilton with leadership award

Anthony Hamilton

Anthony Hamilton, a sheep farmer and back-country guide at Bolton Valley Resort, has been named recipient of the 2025 Kellen Sams Memorial Leadership Award by Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports.

The award recognizes individuals who exemplify exceptional commitment to professional development, leadership and outdoor experiential education — qualities embodied by Sams, an outdoor adventurer and educator who died in an avalanche in 2010.

Hamilton’s journey with Vermont Adaptive began in 2018 as a participant in the nonprofit’s Veteran Ventures program, which empowers veterans through outdoor recreation. He quickly became a volunteer, dedicating his Thursdays at Bolton Valley Resort to leading backcountry adventures for fellow veterans.

Encouraged by his experiences, Hamilton later interned with Vermont Adaptive, where he played a key role in assisting with Veteran Ventures programs. His contributions extended beyond the veteran-focused initiatives, as he also volunteered with the organization’s Burlington program in the summer, helping to diversify its offerings.

“Anthony has been instrumental in expanding Vermont Adaptive’s programming,” said Misha Pemble-Belkin, coordinator of the Veteran Ventures Program. “His dedication has opened new doors for veterans and adaptive athletes alike.”
