Courtney Harrness, former chief advancement officer at Herren Project, has been appointed director of strategic advancement at the Vermont Association for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery.
In his new role, Harrness will oversee a variety of strategic initiatives, enhance VAMHAR’s community engagement efforts and build collaborative partnerships to further the organization’s mission. He will also play a critical role in advancing programs like Beyond Bars, which supports justice-involved individuals in reentering and thriving in our communities.
At Herren Project, Harrness led strategic philanthropy and communications initiatives, surpassing fundraising targets by over $400,000 and planning a $15 million campaign.
“Courtney brings not only a wealth of experience but also a passion and vision that align perfectly with VAMHAR’s mission,” said the organization’s executive director, Daniel Franklin. “His leadership will be instrumental in helping us to navigate and build a better future as we continue to advocate for Vermonters, to provide the resources and supports needed for recovery and whole-person healing, and to work toward healthier and more prosperous communities.”
