Bird bikeshare system paused for the season

Bird will temporarily pause its bikesharing services in the greater Burlington area. The hibernation period will extend through the winter months, with services planned to resume in the spring, weather permitting.

Vermont Business Magazine As the winter season approaches, the City of Burlington, South Burlington and Winooski, in collaboration with Bird and the Chittenden Area Transportation Management Associate (aka CATMA), are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all its residents and visitors. With this in mind, we wish to inform you of an important seasonal adjustment to our shared micro-mobility services. 

Temporary Hibernation of Bird Vehicles 

Starting today, Bird will temporarily pause its bikesharing services in the greater Burlington area. The hibernation period will extend through the winter months, with services planned to resume in the spring, weather permitting.

Looking Ahead 

CATMA, Bird and the cities of Burlington, South Burlington and Winooski are committed to supporting a transportation-oriented bikeshare system. We thank you for your understanding and support during this seasonal pause. Over the winter months, we look forward to planning for system enhancements to ensure our regional bikeshare provider is operating a healthy system that is an accessible, convenient, and affordable travel option in our community.
