Paul Suk-Hyun Yoon, former senior adviser for inclusive excellence at the University of Vermont, has joined Vermont State University as chief diversity officer. Yoon, who began work in October, reports directly to President David Bergh and serves on the university’s executive leadership team.
His responsibilities include overseeing the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice, providing leadership, formulating policies, overseeing programming and acting as a hub of resources for the community.
“Mr. Yoon brings a wealth of experience and passion to this crucial role and a deep commitment to supporting our shared work to foster a more just, equitable and inclusive university environment,” Bergh said. “I look forward to working directly with him to advance critical policies and cultivate a university community that is welcoming to all.”
Yoon brings to his new post 18 years of experience working in education. He holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a Master of Education in secondary education history from Boston College and a Master of Education in administration from Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
