John Dumville, who served the state of Vermont with distinction for 35 years as its historic sites operations chief, has been honored with Vermont Law and Graduate School's inaugural Community Champion Award. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to and friendship with the institution.
Dumville's dedication to community service is extensive. Before retiring in 2016, he played a crucial role in preserving Vermont's historical heritage. He continues to serve the public as a member of the Royalton Selectboard. Furthermore, he has been a longtime supporter of VLGS, providing housing for students and actively participating in campus and alumni events.
“Community champions embody the mission and values of VLGS,” said VLGS Vice President of Community Engagement and Government Relations Shirley Jefferson. “We had several notable nominations, but John stood out for his positive engagement with our students. He consistently goes above and beyond to provide resources and mentorship, helping them feel welcome in the South Royalton community.”
