NVRH invites community to annual Service of Remembrance

Service scheduled for Monday, October 28

Vermont Business Magazine Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) invites members of the community to attend the annual Memorial Service at the Remembrance Bench in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on Monday, October 28 at 1 p.m. This service is for anyone who has experienced the death of a baby or child, or supported someone who has.

“Each October, members of NVRH staff and volunteers gather to remember and honor the babies who are no longer with us,” NVRH Director of Birth Center Services Laura Emery said. “The Remembrance Bench serves as a quiet place for family and friends to gather together, rest and remember their babies. Space is also held for those who have experienced the loss of a child, but are not able to attend the ceremony.”

All who wish to attend the memorial service at Remembrance Bench are welcome. Please note that this year, because of flood damage to the cemetery’s roads, attendees will not be able to drive to the site. Parking will be at the entrance of the cemetery, and the walk to the site, which is less than a half a mile, does involve a hill.

The service, which is short and informal, will be held regardless of inclement weather. NVRH Interfaith Chaplain Abby Pollender will lead the service. The local hospice choir Continua will provide music for the service.

“We want to provide words of comfort and care as family and caregivers honor their loved one’s memories,” Pollender added.
