Vermont Business Magazine Lawson’s Finest Liquids has selected VT Center for Independent Living (VCIL) as a recipient of its 2024 Sunshine Fund. VCIL will be a temporary “on-tap” partner for 2 weeks, receiving 100 percent of guest donations! Visit the Lawson’s Finest destination brewery and taproom in Waitsfield, Vt., between 10/01/2024 – October 15,2024 for a delicious brew you can feel good about.
“VCIL is thrilled to receive the support of the Lawson’s Finest taproom and their guests!” said VCIL’s executive director, Sarah Launderville, “When I heard that they wanted to partner and support our mission I was excited because of their commitment to community, and commitment to equity and inclusion. Last year VCIL was devastated by the flooding and lost our building and I was so impressed by Lawson’s Finest volunteering on the front line helping impacted communities.”
VCIL will use the funding for our Peer Advocacy Counseling Program (PAC) and for Information, Referral and Assistance (IR&A). These programs are at the heart of VCIL’s work and allow residents to access information about disability-related laws, services and programs.
The PAC program provides residents one-on-one support when overcoming barriers they are experiencing because of disability. Our peer counselors all have disabilities themselves and understand through personal experience and training how to overcome obstacles that people with disabilities often face, especially when seeking housing, employment and transportation services.
Lawson’s Finest’s Sunshine Fund, launched in 2018, harnesses the generosity of taproom guests with the goal of helping local communities thrive. Because Lawson’s Finest provides their staff with living wages and generous benefits, the brewery invites guests to donate to the Sunshine Fund to support local nonprofits and charitable organizations in lieu of tips. If guests choose to support the Sunshine Fund during their visit, 100% of the amount donated will be given to a rotating nonprofit.
“Our team is so excited to partner with VCIL this year. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support a nonprofit that makes Vermont such an amazing place to live,” says Lawson’s Finest Liquids’ Social Impact Program (SIP) Manager Carra Cheslin. “The Sunshine Fund allows us to give back to a number of organizations each year that provide essential services and help ensure healthy, thriving, and sustainable communities for all Vermonters.”
The Sunshine Fund is part of the Lawson’s Finest Liquids Social Impact Program (SIP), which is the brewery’s way of building impactful connections and strengthening community while creating memorable experiences. Sunshine Fund recipients are prioritized by their focus on healthy communities, food and economic security, natural resource protection and sustainable recreation in the Green Mountains. Through a mix of community- and brewery-led initiatives, the SIP has donated over $2 million to worthy causes since 2018.
Ready to stop by Lawson’s Finest? Check out the brewery’s Tuesday Night Music Series featuring great local musicians each week. Their seasonal menu will keep you warm, with light fare made with local ingredients. You can find grilled cheese made with Red Hen Baking bread and Cabot Creamery cheddar cheese on the menu, paired perfectly with a house made Tomato Bisque Soup or a delightful Vermont-made pretzel.
It’s a win for everyone – great customer service, delicious foods and brews, awesome music and charitable giving! To learn more about how your donation supports the Vermont Center for Independent Living visit www.vcil.org.
