Newly Converted Location Aims to Meet the Evolving Needs of Today’s Customers

Vermont Business Magazine The former Price Chopper supermarket located at 168 Ames Dr. in Barre, VT has completed its conversion into Vermont’s newest Market 32. The over 59,000 square foot store becomes the 50th Market 32-branded location in the chain.

“We’re very excited to introduce the Market 32 experience to the Barre community,” said Price Chopper/Market 32 President Blaine Bringhurst. “Today’s shoppers are looking for an enhanced, contemporary shopping experience, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer it to them in the same, convenient location they’ve grown accustomed to.”

The Price Chopper store closed at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 for the finishing touches to be applied. The newly renovated Market 32 reopened at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, to a distinctively modern look and feel marked by open spaces, soft earth tone décor, product-focused displays and murals, and improved lighting.

The brand emphasizes convenient, ready-to-eat foods; fresh, handcrafted, and locally grown, produced, and manufactured products; and intuitive product adjacencies (e.g., greeting cards next to the floral department; craft beer next to salty snacks).

Specialties include Boar’s Head brand products, tomahawk steaks, known for exceptional marbling and tenderness; take and bake pizza; Arka brand salmon, raised in the cold waters of the Arctic Ocean, and Regal brand king salmon from the cold waters of New Zealand’s Marlborough Sounds.

Led by store manager Mike Dennis, highlights include expanded local, floral and produce offerings and a café seating area with ADA-accessible tables with charging ports, where customers can enjoy the store’s prepared and “to-go” food offerings.

“The Barre Market 32 reflects the newest and best ideas we’ve received from our customers. We’re very proud of the store and grateful to our outstanding teammates who continue to rise to the occasion and do such a wonderful job of being brand ambassadors for our company,” said Bringhurst.

To generate additional excitement around the stores’ grand re-opening, on Friday, September 5, and Saturday, September 6 all customers will enjoy a 5% savings off their grocery order.

Price Chopper/Market 32 will also donate 5% of sales from the new store on Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7, to two local not-for-profit organizations: Barre Amateur Soccer Association, focused on player development, building skills, confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship and respect for the game of soccer for kids and young adults; and Capstone Community Action, dedicated to creating resilient households and communities and empowering individuals with the tools and resources to move beyond poverty.

“Price Chopper/Market 32 is much more than just a retailer in the neighborhoods we are fortunate to call home,” said Bringhurst. “We pride ourselves on being a strong community partner, through philanthropy and business partnerships. Our investment in converting this location is a strong message to our Barre customers that we will continue to deliver the products, services, value, and community support they expect and appreciate, for many years to come.”
