Vermont Business Magazine SymQuest Group, Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Konica Minolta Business Solutions, USA, Inc, recently hosted their 24th Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Special Olympics Vermont (SOVT), a nonprofit organization part of a global movement that works year-round to foster inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities by using the power of sport to showcase their gifts and abilities.
“For 24 years SymQuest has been giving back to our neighbors through our annual golf classic.” commented SymQuest President, Meg Fleming. “This year we were honored to support Special Olympics Vermont, and help expand their mission to provide more opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.”
SymQuest made a contribution for each tournament Birdie, Eagle, and Hole in One. The donation from SymQuest amounted to $7,500. Sponsors for this year’s tournament included Konica Minolta, ZixCorp, KnowledgeWave, Delta Marketing Group, US Bank, CIT Group and Copylite.
SOVT has over 1,600 athletes and nearly 500 partners state-wide who participate annually in at least one of its 13 Olympic-style sports, and at one or more of its four state games and five school-based tournaments. Aside from competitions, SOVT offers unified sports, bringing together athletes and partners as a team, in both local programs and in schools. SOVT also offers Young Athletes, a program for 2-7 year olds, as well as Healthy Athletes, which offers free health screenings to all athletes, plus education in lifelong fitness and nutrition through initiatives like Farm to Athlete, where they collaborate with local food producers to provide healthy, locally grown and produced foods.
