Vermont Business Magazine Nicole Mace will be stepping down as the Executive Director of the VSBA in November of 2019 to join a law firm in Burlington where her practice will focus on general education and special education law. While the Board is sad to lose such a talented and qualified leader we are happy that she will continue to serve Vermont's students and schools in her new role.

Mace joined the VSBA in 2011 as the Director of Legal and Policy Services and became the Executive Director in 2015. Her combined skillset spanning public policy, education law, and advocacy made her a uniquely effective leader for the organization.
Throughout her tenure with the VSBA, Mace has exhibited a passion for public education, children, families and school boards. In addition, she has fostered important relationships with numerous state agencies and education groups that have strengthened the VSBA, and has built a great team of VSBA staff, leaving it in a strong position for the future.
Mace helped to guide the VSBA through perhaps the most tumultuous time for school boards since Acts 60 and 68. On behalf of VSBA membership, Mace worked tirelessly to provide assistance to school boards and board members, and we thank her for her extraordinary service.
At the August meeting of the VSBA Board of Directors, the Board will establish the parameters and timeline for the search process for a new Executive Director.
