Vermont Business Magazine The 32nd Annual Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour opens on Saturday June 29, 2019 in Greensboro, Vermont for two shows at 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The opening day performances are the first on a 69-show tour that will visit 5 states and 16 towns over 51 days this summer.

The 30 budding circus stars in the 2019 troupe are ages 11 to 18, and bring youthful exuberance and polished circus skills to grace the Big Top from regions across the United States and Canada. They hail from Vermont (4), Colorado (2), Massachusetts (8), New Hampshire (2), New Jersey (1), New York (3), Pennsylvania (3), Rhode Island (2), Virginia (1), Washington (2), and internationally from Canada (1).
Now in its 32nd year, Circus Smirkus is only traveling ‘tented’ youth circus in the United States, and is one of the most beloved arts events of the New England summer. Performing under traditional European-style circus tents, patrons experience the authentic and historic flair of the iconic circus in a Big Top where there’s not a bad seat in the house. (Note: there are no animal acts in these performances.)
This year’s tour continues the tradition of Smirkus’ annual theme- based shows with the 2019 theme: Carnival! Inspired by the elegance of the carousel ride, the thrill of the roller coaster, and games of chance and skill, our amazing circus performers will bring audiences laughs, thrills, and nonstop fun! Watch our jugglers, acrobats, and wire-walkers run for their lives through the haunted mansion, try their luck at the ring toss, balance their way through the house of fun, and discover romance in the tunnel of love! The show will feature a vast array of circus arts including aerials, acrobatics, wire-walking, juggling, clowning, live music, a dazzling display of brilliant costumes and many other surprises.
The 2019 Big Top Tour takes to the road in late June and travels through mid-August with a tour caravan that requires some 23-support vehicles and 80 people including artists, tent crew and a live circus band playing an original score written specifically for this show.
