PSD to hold meeting of the Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel May 20

Vermont Business Magazine The Public Service Department today announced the next meeting of the Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel (VT NDCAP) has been scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2019, from 6:00 PM to 8:50 PM in the Vernon Elementary School Cafeteria / Auditorium, 381 Governor Hunt Road, Vernon, VT.  (Use “387 Governor Hunt Road, Vernon, VT for accurate Google Maps driving directions to this meeting site.)

The Panel will receive updates from Vermont State Agencies on preparations for overseeing Vermont Yankee’s (VY’s) active decommissioning.  An assessment of NorthStar’s first annual decommissioning status report will also be provided.  Representatives from NorthStar and Orano will discuss recent VY decommissioning activities and will outline plans for the segmentation and removal of the Reactor Vessel from the VY site.  The Panel will also discuss potential changes in its public information, engagement and annual reporting roles moving forward, as well as potential changes to its enabling legislation, operations and administrative support.  Providing feedback to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in response to the Federal Nuclear Energy Innovation and Modernization Act of 2019 (NEIMA) will also be discussed.
