Burlington Code Academy boasts a 93% placement rate for their bootcamp graduates and is offering scholarships for their upcoming summer course.
Vermont Business Magazine Burlington Code Academy (BCA) is leading workforce innovation in Vermont by turning retail workers, musicians, assembly lineman, farmers, and minimum wage workers into coders. In 2017, two Vermont neighbors and a seasoned Silicon Valley coder came together to form Burlington Code Academy, Vermont's first and only coding bootcamp, a 12-week course that trains students to become software developers. Since graduating their first bootcamp class in 2018, Burlington Code Academy has been tracking the placement results and employment outcomes of their graduates.
Last week, BCA released their 2018 Outcomes Report which details key metrics that are used to determine the success of their program. Here are some of their findings:
- 93% placement rate for job-seeking Web Development Bootcamp graduates including full-time salaried roles, paid apprenticeships, and part-time roles.
- $78,000 starting salary for job-seeking students that landed full-time salaried positions during the reporting period.
- The majority of employed graduates were placed between 1-3 months of completing the program.
Most of these graduates had little-to-no coding experience prior to entering the bootcamp. Of the students who accepted paid offers, 46% were in Web or Software Engineering and 38% were in Software Support roles.
Since launching last June, BCA has placed 1st in Launch VT , won Tech Jam's Startup Award , graduated 3 classes, formed partnerships with 30 local companies, and created 4 scholarship programs for students. Scholarship and grants have funded over $30,000 in student tuition to date.
