Vermont Farm Show 2019: Win a year’s supply of Cabot Cheese to celebrate 100th birthday

Vermont Business Magazine The 2019 Vermont Farm Show kicks off today, January 29, at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction. This year, in celebration of Cabot Creamery reaching 100 years in business and all the great work the company has done throughout Vermont, the Vermont Farm Show, Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets, Vermont Farm to Plate’s Rooted in Vermont and Cabot Creamery will be giving away a year’s supply of Cabot cheese to one lucky attendee along with other prizes.

“At its core, the mission of our co-op has not changed since the day it was founded,” says Cabot Creamery CEO Ed Townley of being in business for 100 years. “As we hit this milestone we remain focused on ensuring the next generations of family farms are able to continue farming and 900 employees are engaged in making sure the farmers’ products remain the best.”

Upon entrance to the Vermont Farm Show, every attendee will be given a Rooted in Vermont Passport to complete for their chance to win the grand prize. The passport will encourage attendees to experience the entirety of the Vermont Farm Show where there will be 135 vendors set up throughout the three days.

“The Vermont Farm Show is the winter gathering place for farmers and folks who want to celebrate and learn about our industry. It's an important place to share information, see old friends and hear the latest updates about agriculture,” says Jackie Folsom, manager of the Vermont Farm Show. “We’re excited to partner with the Vermont Agency of Agriculture and Rooted in Vermont to help promote the passport which will introduce our guests to some of our vendors and wish Cabot Creamery a happy 100th birthday!”

Consumer Night features the Capital Cook-Off

In addition to passport and all of the vendors, the Vermont Farm Show will feature competitions for a variety of Vermont products from honey to home products to maple syrup, meetings and workshops for various Vermont agriculture associations, along with a Consumer Night featuring the Capital Cook-Off and Winter Buy Local Market beginning at 4 PM on January 30.

The Capital Cook-Off and Buy Local Market, hosted by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, will take place in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion, where attendees will have the opportunity to learn about, sample, and purchase a broad range of some of Vermont’s best agriculture products. They’ll also have the chance to cheer on their favorite team and sample and vote for the best dish at the Capital Cook-Off where Vermont State Representatives, Senators, and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture staff will square off in an Iron Chef-like competition featuring a secret Rooted in Vermont ingredient.
