Shalina Nair, MD, executive vice chair of clinical services and innovation at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and medical director for population health outreach at OSU's Wexner Medical Center, has been appointed chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and the UVM Health Network, effective Nov. 1.
As chair of the family medicine department, Nair will lead physicians, scientists, educators, residents, fellows and staff at the health system’s locations across Vermont and northern New York.
“I am delighted that Dr. Nair will join us as the next chair of the Department of Family Medicine,” said Dr. Richard Page, dean of the Larner College of Medicine. “Bringing a wealth of experience in education, research, leadership and patient care, including four years of practice in rural New Zealand, she will have an immediate impact on the department and our college.”
Nair received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and holds an MBA from the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. She has held leadership positions in several national premier family medicine professional committees, completing a term as chair and now serving as vice chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the Association of Departments of Family Medicine.
