FEMA Disaster Declaration Decision Pending

At the Governor’s weekly press conference, state leaders shared that a decision on a FEMA disaster declaration is expected by the end of this week. If Vermont qualifies for individual FEMA assistance, impacted Vermonters will need to submit their information to FEMA, in addition to 211. Vermonters are encouraged to prepare their documentation in advance. Resources are available at the State Floor Recovery Centers to assist with this and we will communicate the availability of assistance if, and when, FEMA makes a decision.

State Flood Recovery Centers Open

State Flood Recovery Centers are now open to help those impacted by this month’s floods navigate the recovery process. In addition to providing water, snacks, cleaning kits, and basic medical and mental health services, these centers can also help Vermonters get ahead and prepare for potential FEMA assistance by preparing their documentation in advance.

Flood Recovery Centers are open from 9:30 am – 6:00 pm at the following locations:

Information about Flood Recovery Centers can be found on Vermont Emergency Management’s Flood Recovery Centers webpage or by calling 2-1-1.

Report Damage

Report all home, business, and farm damage to Vermont 211 even if you are not submitting an insurance claim. To do this electronically, use the  “Resident Form” or “Business Form”. You can also call 211 to report damage, but online reporting is preferred.

All data reported to Vermont 211 is only being used only to help the state assess the extent of the damage as it applies for a federal disaster declaration.

Crisis Cleanup Hotline

Tomorrow, Friday, July 26, Crisis Cleanup will close its Vermont hotline. However, volunteers will continue to coordinate a response for those who have already requested support. If you have not yet requested volunteer support, you can call 211 and they will forward your request to SerVermont.

Mucking Out

It is essential that flood-related debris is moved out of buildings and into the public right-of-way. Please follow local community guidance for this process to ensure a smooth pickup process. Municipalities are working with Vermont Emergency Management to coordinate debris pickup, which is anticipated to become available next week.

Flood Impact Survey for Outdoor Recreation Businesses

If your outdoor recreation business was impacted by the recent July floods, the Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance is seeking your survey response on physical and economic injury losses. Be sure to also report damages to Vermont 211 at vermont211.org.
