Burns steps down at Lund, Schatz named interim CEO

Ken Schatz

Mary Burns, president and CEO at Lund in South Burlington, has announced she is departing the organization after two years at the helm. Ken Schatz, former commissioner of the Vermont Department for Children and Families, has been named interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found.

“On behalf of the board, we want to thank Mary for her service, and we wish her well in her next chapter,” board chair Maurine Gilbert said. “Lund is an incredible place because of our dedicated staff who care for the children and families who depend on us, and because of our strong partnerships in the community.”

Prior to serving as DCF commissioner, Schatz was general counsel to the secretary at the Agency of Human Services. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont and holds a law degree from Cornell University Law School.
