Author Mariana Budjeryn has been selected for the 2024 William E. Colby Military Writers’ Award for her work "Inheriting the Bomb: The Collapse of the USSR and the Nuclear Disarmament of Ukraine" (Johns Hopkins Press).
The annual award, presented by Norwich University in partnership with the Chicago-based Pritzker Military Foundation, recognizes a solo work of fiction or nonfiction that has made a major contribution to the understanding of military history, intelligence operations or international affairs.
Budjeryn is the first female author to win the prize, which carries a $5,000 honorarium. She will be formally recognized during the 30th annual Norwich University Military Writers’ Symposium Oct. 7-8 on the Norwich campus.
