Aly Richards, CEO of Let’s Grow Kids
Vermont Business Magazine The Community College of Vermont (CCV) will hold its 2024 commencement ceremony at Norwich University’s Shapiro Field House in Northfield, Vermont on Saturday, June 1. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. More than 500 students will be awarded associate degrees.
The College is pleased to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Aly Richards, CEO of Let’s Grow Kids, Vermont’s child care campaign. Richards’ leadership and vision resulted in the passage of the historic child care law last year, a first-of-its-kind law for Vermont and the nation.
CCV-Montpelier graduate Caitlin McGinley will be the student speaker for the Class of 2024. McGinley completed the Free Degree Promise, generously supported by the J. Warren & Lois McClure Foundation, which builds on the state’s Early College program to give students the chance to complete a free associate degree the year after high school graduation. She plans to transfer to Johnson & Wales University, where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in communications.
The Community Service Award will be given to Susan and Bob Titterton of Elmore. In addition to their contributions to many local and statewide initiatives, the Tittertons generously support CCV scholarships for early childhood educators.
The College will recognize three faculty members for their commitment to teaching and learning excellence and their many contributions to their CCV classrooms. Heath Fuller, Gail Marlene Schwartz, and Norm Whittle will receive this year’s Teaching Excellence Awards.
CCV President Joyce Judy will officiate the event. Governor Phil Scott will address the Class of 2024, and members of the Vermont State Colleges Board of Trustees and state lawmakers will be in attendance.
CCV is Vermont’s second-largest college, serving more than 10,000 students each year. With 12 locations and extensive online learning options, our students don’t have to travel far from their communities to access our degree and certificate programs, workforce, secondary and continuing education opportunities, and academic and veterans support services.
