Meara Seery, a digital producer from Brattleboro, and Charlee Royer, a high school student from Newport, have been crowned Miss Vermont and Miss Vermont's Teen, respectively, for 2024.
Scary, a graduate of George Washington University who plans to attend graduate school at Champlain College, was awarded a $7,500 academic scholarship plus the opportunity to take a public speaking and presentation course from the Boston public relations agency Ellis Strategies, valued at $5,000. She will compete for the title of Miss America 2025 early next year.
Royer, whose ambition is to one day obtain a doctorate in psychiatry, will receive a full academic scholarship, valued at more than $100,000, to attend the University of Alabama after she graduates high school. She will vie for the title of Miss America's Teen the evening before Miss America is crowned.
“We want to welcome Meara and Charlee and congratulate the entire Class of 2024 on their incredible work,” said Darcie Fisher, executive director of the Miss Vermont Scholarship Organization. “We encourage other young women across our state to learn more about the life-changing scholarship and community-service opportunities available to them.”
